Configuration & Programming Over The Air (OTA)
The Skywave/Orbcomm IDP terminals provide an extensive over the air feature list, almost every configuration parameter can fetched or set from the terminal as well as sending software and firmware updates over the air. Although sending firmware updates over the air is only done in extreme circumstances due the data that is consumed. But if a new feature is required on a terminal in the field, and software update can easily be sent to the terminal.
The SatVUE software the runs the IDP/ST6 terminal combined with the SatVUE portal allows for quick and easy configuration of the following:
- IDP Service Properties: The commonly accessed properties can be viewed and edited from within the SatVUE portal. All other properties can be accessed by PDSA staff.
- Logging Schedule: There is a single logging schedule within the SatVUE application that runs on the terminal. Periodically the terminal can log its data to its internal storage, which can be requested over the air at a later time.
- Sampling Schedule: There is a single sampling schdule within the SatVUE application that runs on the terminal. Periodially the terminal will sample all its configurated IO and serial ports.
- Sampling Configuration: The sampling configuration consists of the analog and digial IO port sampling as well the RS485/Modbus and SDI12 slave to request data from.
- Device Programming: The SatVUE software that runs the IDP/ST6 terminal defines a set of events which execute custom Lua scripts, See Device Programming.
- Software Updates: Software updates can be sent to the terminal by PDSA staff, if a new feature is required on a terminal in the field.
